joel tallent begann als mc und reimte zu beats seit seinen schultagen 1987. mit seiner entdeckung der elektronischen musik irgendwann um 1982 warf er das microfon weg und begann, sich auf ambiente tracks mit abstrakten beats zu konzentrieren. nachdem er eine menge tracks im internet publiziert hatte, unterschrieb er eine vertrag bei [<unit>] records und veröffentlichte im februar 2002 sein erstes vollständiges album, "shuffling data". das zweite album soll im april 2004 auf component records erscheinen.

unter dem pseudonym jvox entwirft dieser elektronikkünstler aus brooklyn (ny/usa) funky, leicht abstruse kompositionen. hierbei nutzt er eine grosse spannweite an einflüssen und seine eigene skurrile fantasie. seine mission ist klar: mit jeder aufnahme soll eine verblüffende, einzigartige und angenehm surreal erfahrung geschaffen werden. der aufmerksame hörer wird zu gleichen teilen geräusch und melodie, nonsens und logik, heiterkeit und angst entdecken. das endergebnis ist elektronische musik, die zwar experimentell ist, aber immer unterhalten will, immer amüsieren und niemals nur durch technische komplexität aufmerksamkeit heischen will.

joel tallent started out as an mc, rhyming over beats since his days as a high school senior in 1987. after discovering electronic music around 1992, he dropped the mic and began focusing on ambient tracks with abstract beats. after publishing many tracks on the internet, he was signed by [<unit>] records, and in february 2002 released his first full-length album, "shuffling data." his second album is due for release in april 2004 on component records.

using the pseudonym jvox this brooklyn (ny/usa) electronic artist designs funky, slightly off-kilter electronic compositions, drawing from a wide range of influences and his own whimsical imagination. his mission: to create an intriguing, unique and pleasantly surreal experience with each recording. the careful listener will discover equal amounts of noise and melody, nonsense and logic, serenity and angst, all happily intermingling. the end result is electronic music that is experimental, yet seeks to entertain and amuse rather than draw attention to its own technical complexity.
