individualität zwischen ambient und click'n'cuts

der aus dem lateinischen abgeleitete projektname alcyon, ein synonym für den eisvogel, gibt bereits einen hinweis auf die thematische ausrichtung des ausnahmemusikers carsten büttemeier.

auf der suche nach einer eigenen ästhetik im athmosphärischen, aber gleichsam experimentellem ambient streift er seit vielen jahren durch neue klangkreationen, gepaart mit einflüssen der neuen click'n'cuts-Szene. der aus dem südlichen niedersachsen stammende und mittlerweile in paderborn lebende student versucht, mit seinen stücken eine moderne art von programmmusik zu erschaffen, die dem hörer die eigenen stimmungen und gefühle zu seinen bildern vermitteln soll.

ende der 90er jahre wurde das soloprojekt, dessen ergebnisse nahezu ausschließlich im computer entstehen, gestartet. seitdem ist eine kleine palette ambitionierter ambienttracks entstanden, die nicht zuletzt auch die basis zu vielen kontakten in mehreren internet-communities bildete. über diese fanden alcyons klangwerke bereits viele begeisterte hörer. der erste release nebelbank.EP auf tonAtom ist eine auswahl der besten stücke aus dieser zeit.

weitere ep-releases auf tonAtom sind geplant, desweiteren ist ein komplettes album in vorbereitung.

individuality between ambient and clicks´n´cuts

the project´s name is derived from the latin synonym for the kingfisher bird. it hints at what the work of carsten büttemeier is about.

in his search for individual aesthetics in the area of both atmospheric and experimental ambient music he is exploring new creations of sound together with the influences of the cutting edge click´n´cuts scene. alcyon, originating from the south part of the german county lower saxony is now living as a university student in paderborn. he is aiming at creating a modern form of incidental music conveying own moods and feelings through musical pictures.

the solo project alcyon was started in the late 90s and its works are almost completely created using computer technology. since then a set of ambitious ambient tracks were created, which also formed the basis for contacts to several internet communities. through this means of communication alcyon´s works could find their way to his enthusiastic audience. the first release nebelbank.EP, released on tonAtom, is a selection of some of the best works from this period.

for the future there are plans for other EP releases on tonAtom and a full length album is currently being worked on.
